Self Help Junkie: The Value of Persistence

I will persist until I succeed.

The prizes of life are at the end of each journey,
not near the beginning; and it is not given to me to
know how many steps are necessary in order to
reach my goal.

Failure I may still encounter
at the
thousandth step,
yet success hides behind the next
bend in the road.

Never will I know how close it
lies unless I turn the corner.

Always will I take another step. If that is of no
avail I will take another, and yet another. In truth,
one step at a time is not too difficult.

I will persist until I succeed.

Henceforth, I will consider each day's effort as
but one blow of my blade against a mighty oak.
The first blow may cause not a tremor in the wood,
nor the second, nor the third.

Each blow, of itself,
may be trifling,
and seem of no consequence.
Yet
from childish swipes...
the oak will eventually tum
ble.

So it will be with my efforts of today.

I will be liken to the rain drop which washes
away the mountain; the ant who devours a tiger;
the star which brightens the earth; the slave who
builds a pyramid.

I will build my castle one brick
at a time
for I know that small attempts, repeated,

will complete any undertaking
.

I will persist until I succeed.

I will never consider defeat and I will remove
from my vocabulary such words and phrases as
quit, cannot, unable, impossible, out of the ques
tion,
improbable, failure, unworkable, hopeless,
and retreat;

for they are the words of fools.

I will avoid despair but if this disease of the mind should
infect me then I will work on in despair. I will toil
and I will endure.

I will ignore the obstacles at my
feet
and keep mine eyes on the goals above my
head,
for I know that where dry desert ends,
green
grass grows.

I will persist until I succeed.

Calmness of Mind by James Allen

Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom. It is the result of long and patient effort in self-control. Its presence is an indication of ripened experience, and of a more than ordinary knowledge of the laws and operations of thought.

A person becomes calm in the measure that one understands themselves as a thought evolved being, for such knowledge necessitates the understanding of others as the result of thought, and as one develops a right understanding, and sees more and more clearly the internal relations of things by the action of cause and effect, one ceases to fuss and fume and worry and grieve, and remains poised, steadfast, serene.

The calm person, having learned how to govern themselves, knows how to adapt themselves to others; and they, in turn, reverence their spiritual strength, and feel that they can learn of them and rely upon them. The more tranquil a person becomes, the greater is their success, their influence, their power for good. Even the ordinary trader will find their business prosperity increase as one develops a greater self control and equanimity, for people will always prefer to deal with a person whose demeanor is strongly equable.

The strong, calm person is always loved and revered. They are like a shade-giving tree in a thirsty land, or a sheltering rock in a storm. Who does not love a tranquil heart, a sweet-tempered, balanced life? It does not matter whether it rains or shines, or what changes come to those possessing these blessings, for they are always sweet, serene, and calm. That exquisite poise of character which we call serenity is the last lesson of culture; it is the flowering of life, the fruitage of the soul. It is precious as wisdom, more to be desired than gold, than even fine gold. How insignificant mere money seeking looks in comparison with a serene life - a life that dwells in the ocean of truth, beneath the waves, beyond the reach of tempests, in the eternal calm!

How many people we know who sour their lives, who ruin all that is sweet and beautiful by explosive tempers, who destroy their poise of character, and make bad blood! It is a question whether the great majority of people do not ruin their lives and mar their happiness by lack of self-control flow few people we meet in life who are well-balanced, who have that exquisite poise which is characteristic of the finished character!

The Science Of Success

Never Ignore The Obvious – That’s What It’s There For!

Did you know that there is an easier way to become successful?

No?

Well, there is.

Want to know what it is?

OK. But don't get annoyed if you don't like it!

The easiest way to become a success is to use what you already know.

I am talking rubbish? Maybe, maybe not.

You see, I'm a firm believer in the principle that you already have all of the 'knowledge' you need to become who you really want to be.

How do I know that?

Well - I don't KNOW any more than I did a couple of years ago. I may know more about how to run a business on the Internet - but I haven't learnt anything 'NEW' from any personal development book I've read in that time.

Nothing is new. It's just the obvious repackaged. (You see?)

This stuff isn't rocket science - it's pure common sense.

Sure, things like NLP and self-hypnosis work - but they are only different 'carriers' of the same basic information.

Don't believe me?

WHY don't you believe me?

Are you too frightened to push yourself? Too worried about what other people think?

Think you haven't got the 'talent'?

Stop looking for excuses and start looking for REASONS.

Reasons why you CAN - not excuses why you can't.

You have a brain. I have a brain. Mine is no better than yours. I'd like to think that I can get my point across pretty well - yet I had never written a single article until eight months ago.

I didn't suddenly 'learn' how to write this stuff. I just write what I think.

I didn't suddenly 'learn' how to be positive - I was a happy child once - so I knew that I have the ability!

What can YOU do that you won't let yourself because of how little you think of yourself?

I have had customers ask for a refund of my ebook - "The Science of Success" (scienceofsuccess.com) because it contains 'nothing new'.

Of course it contains nothing new - it's just the obvious repackaged in a different format.

You can read 200+ books before you get it - like I did,

or -

You can stop...

You can sit down...

You can write down what YOU are good at...

Then use your obvious talents to your advantage - that's why you were given them in the first place.

We're all different - but the same principle applies:

Never ignore your obvious talents - that's what they are there for!

To Our Success!

Please tell a friend. This site brings up some serious life questions, I re-read this page for an hour, and was truely forced to think about what I am doing and make sure I am headed in the right direction.

"The highly anticipated follow-up to the 2,000,000 copy bestselling inspirational book, The Power of Now With his bestselling spiritual guide The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle inspired millions of readers to discover the freedom and joy of a life lived "in the now"? In A New Earth, Tolle expands on these powerful ideas to show how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world. Tolle describes how our attachment to the ego creates the dysfunction that leads to anger, jealousy, and unhappiness, and shows readers how to awaken to a new state of consciousness and follow the path to a truly fulfilling existence. The Power of Now was a question-and-answer handbook. A New Earth has been written as a traditional narrative, offering anecdotes and philosophies in a way that is accessible to all. Illuminating, enlightening, and uplifting, A New Earth is a profoundly spiritual manifesto for a better way of life and for building a better world."
